A real intercontinental musical journey was the one proposed at the last 2019 appointment of the C&T manifestation Onde Sonore. On December 29, in fact, Usa to Africa was not only the title of the event but also the theme of the double musical appointment with the Trinity Unite band, the afro-reggae proposal of Onde sonore and Horny Brothers, local exponent of American country-rock.
The first part of the performance, conducted by Trinity Unite, recreated a multi-ethnic atmosphere rich in sound and cultural shades that, thanks to an enthralling rhythm, involved the pubblic until dancing.
Anyway, it was foreseeable for a group with a history like that of its founders: Yannick Tiolo, leader of the band and singer, guitarist and drummer, and Joseph Friquin, singer and front man of the group, both emigrated from the black continent, precisely from the Mauritius islands. Today proudly adopted by Palermo, they perform in the Sicilian capital where, after various experiences and collaborations with various local musicians, they created a stable formation thanks to the entry of bassist Massimo Provenzano, guitarist Livio Corselli and keyboard player Dario Benigno.
For this reason during the event the band was the bearer of messages of equality, love and peace, typical themes of reggae. The group reproduce the genre with a modern musical formula combined with the Afro spirit thanks also to the musical instruments used.
Through the Caribbean sound of Trinity Unite, the audience of Onde Sonore, while ferry from one side of the Strait to the other, virtually crossed the Atlantic and landed in West America where the Horny Brothers were waiting for it.
The group is a bluegrass/country one, formed in 2014, originates from Reggio Calabria and is made up of five singers and musicians specialized in made in USA music: the guitarist Walter Brancatisano, Michele Nunnari banjo player, Domenico Modafferi, violinist, Luca Brandi at cajon and bassist Roberto Modafferi.
Together they demonstrated an unmistakable sound and an uncommon technical preparation, proposing a show full of fun that was appreciated by all age groups thanks an extravagant repertoire that gave great space to the great classics of Country music but also to the hits of Rock re-arranged in western style.
