The realm of the siren Amanda

The wild and ancient beauty of Filicudi renders this island an ideal destination for those wishing to spend a holiday where time seems to slow down.  The fifth of the Aeolian islands, it is inhabited by just over two hundred residents.

Strongly tied to its history, Filicudi has two archaeological sites: Cape Graziano and Piano del Porto, where the remains of villages dating back to the Bronze Age are still visible. Filicudi's magic is experienced above all through the inland mule tracks, intrigued by the scent of broom and mediterranean scrub.

More than the sea, the people of Filicudi turn to the land that provides products such as the capers famous all over the world.

To visit are the island's seabeds, rich in ancient wrecks and archaeological finds, and the Grotta del Bue Marino, named thus by the old fishermen because there was a monk seal refuge, of which today unfortunately there is no-longer any trace. The grotta is 30 metres wide, with a radius of 20 metres. Over time, the sea has formed a delightful beach at the base, and the amplitude and depth allow small boats to enter and perhaps even come across Amanda, the legendary siren who lives in the waters of Filicudi.

How to reach the Siremar departure point:

Follow the signs to the port.
