On Friday 21st February the magic of Le Portinaie - a famous drag queen group from Reggio Calabria - colored the lounge deck of the Telepass ship with a show of comedy and irony.
According to the carnival spirit, the six drag queens, Doretta, Lady Aisy, Diamanda, Nerisha, Cherilyn and Lady Godiva, were invited to entertain the public for the first Carnival event of Onde Sonore Events; they replicated the success of June 2019, on the occasion of the Messina pride, when C&T had decided to support the event of the entire LGBT community through a show on board.
Also on this occasion there was a time for social reflection: until a few decades ago carnival, in fact, Carnival was an important period of the year for the transformist culture because this was the only time when drag queens could go out and interpret their art without causing a sensation.
<< Once it would have been unthinkable for us to be able to do a show on a ship with such a varied audience. We had to hide in underground rooms to be able to express ourselves, just as people who came to see us had to hide and dissimulate. >> said the leader of the group Doretta during the performance.
During Onde Sonore show, Le Portinaie created a varied show capable of breaking down every social barrier, of age and gender respecting their aim of defending the identity of the LGBT community using not only sequined costumes and make-up but comedy, arts, and musical performance.
