Trapani is a land rich in charm. The coasts, with their steep cliffs and long beaches, the testimonies of the past, the small villages where the most authentic traditions are maintained, all render this is a unique tourist destination in Sicily.
Its pearl is the Castellammare del Golfo, with its rugged coastline of cliffs and sea stacks. These alternate with enchanting beaches such as that of San Vito Lo Capo, being dazzling white, with crystal-clear water.
The province of Trapani encapsulates an extraordinary natural heritage, starting with the Egadi Islands and the splendid volcanic island of Pantelleria, which are connected to the city by the Siremar Caronte & Tourist Isole Minori motorboats.
There are also many protected areas, including the Zingaro and the Saline di Trapani e Paceco natural reserves. The "Saline" (salterns) stretch along the coast with cliffs, coves and crags that plunge into the blue of the sea. From here, the ancient windmills rise up.
Those wishing to take a journey to explore the most distant past, including archaeological finds and extraordinary landscapes, need look no further than the archaeological site of Segesta, situated inland, and the coastal colonies of Selinunte and Erice, through to the Motya island.
